Samsung on Tuesday bid nearly $6 billion to acquire flash memory firm SanDisk, but the company rejected the deal, calling it “inadequate in several respects,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The offer of $5.85 billion was at a nearly-80 percent premium to SanDisk’s stock price as of Tuesday. Samsung has said that if they purchased SanDisk, they would operate it as a separate subsidiary.

Reuters reported that a Samsung spokesman had said the company is “looking at various opportunities regarding SanDisk,” but that nothing had been decided yet. Called the Sansa Fuze, the player, scheduled to arrive in early April, comes in three size editions and play music, video and even FM radio.
