Don Anderson of DBL Distributing said yesterday’s ceremony marking the transition of the company’s logistics and warehousing to Ingram Micro’s sprawling facility in Jonestown, Pa., was more than a ribbon cutting. “This is the beginning of a new era for DBL,” he said. DBL To Move Warehousing, Layoffs Expected

DBL Distributing plans to shift the majority of its warehousing and shipping operations from the company’s Scottsdale, Ariz., headquarters to larger facilities in California and Pennsylvania owned by its parent company, Ingram Micro. The move will increase DBL’s warehousing space from 100,000 square feet in Scottsdale to a combined total of over a million square feet in the Mira Loma, Calif., and Jonestown, Pa., locations. DBL president Henry Chiarelli said the move should be completed by August. DBL Distributing announced Monday that it has named Tim Coakley to the position of senior vice president of merchandising and purchasing. In the position, Coakley will oversee the company’s marketing, merchandising, and purchasing operations, as well as its online marketing efforts. Coakley, a 25-year veteran of the electronics industry, most recently worked as vice president of merchandising for the recently shuttered retail chain CompUSA. DBL is Acquired By Ingram Micro

The technology distributor Ingram Micro announced Wednesday that it has purchased the net assets of DBL Distributing. The transaction is for $96 million, and will be financed through Ingram Micro’s current borrowing capacity, the company said in a statement. “Our acquisition of DBL Distributing is another step forward in Ingram Micro’s consumer electronics strategy,” Ingram Micro CEO Greg Spierkel said in the company’s announcement. Once the deal is completed, DBL will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Ingram Micro. Ingram Micro will also take ownership of NXG Technology, the DBL-owned brand of audio/video installation products.
